ABOUT ME

A Commitment to Education

I live in the Birdland neighborhood of Sunnyvale with my husband, David, our two daughters, Sophie and Emilia, and our three dogs. I spent 15 years in the legal profession before leaving private industry to raise my girls full time. Advocating for my children led me to realize that education was where I belonged. After completing early childhood coursework, I began my new career as a teacher at Laurelwood Preschool, a private, non-profit, parent participation preschool located in Santa Clara.

Both of my daughters attend schools in the Santa Clara Unified School District - Laurelwood Elementary and Peterson Middle - and I have been involved in all aspects of my children's education. Over the last eight years in the school district, I have served our community in many ways, including:

  • Laurelwood Elementary School's PTA President and Secretary;

  • Two terms on the Laurelwood Elementary School Site Council where I just completed my second term as its Chairperson;

  • Classroom volunteer assisting teachers, chaperoning field trips, and acting as room parent;

  • Production Director for Laurelwood Elementary's production of The Nutcracker; and

  • Participation on numerous committees, including the advisory committee for the design of the new elementary school at the former Patrick Henry school site.

I have an extensive history of service to our schools and our community and I am a proven leader. I have a deep passion for education. I want to foster a collaborative spirit with all of our educators to help make our district a paragon of educational excellence. I will be a voice for all students and I will fight to ensure all children have access to the highest quality education our district can offer.
